Hot Stuff
Concentrated solar power (CSP) systems use mirrors or lenses to concentrate a large area of sunlight onto a small target. This drives a heat engine connected to an electrical power generator. NEM is using ANSYS technology to increase the stiffness of the mirrors to put as much reflected light as possible onto the target, called a receiver, without paying a cost premium

Flight Simulator
The Aeroelastic Prediction Workshop challenges the simulation community to apply best practices to predict unsteady aerodynamics characteristics for rigid or weakly coupled aeroelastic systems. ANSYS staff used ANSYS Fluent and ANSYS CFX computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software to solve the problems, then presented the results at the meeting. A select set of results is illustrated in this article and the full set is available. |
