Heart to Heart Heart to Heart
More than 300,000 Americans die from heart failure each year. Of these, up to 20 percent die while waiting for a heart donor. Artificial hearts have the potential to save many of these people. A new continuous-flow total artificial heart has been designed that is smaller and less complex than others. The new device is small enough to fit most adults and many teenagers — and has been designed using electromagnetic and fluid simulation.
